To celebrate the recent launch of Photographer Matt Writtle’s photobook and exhibition Sunday: A Portrait of 21st Century England acclaimed Times journalist, writer and broadcaster Hugo Rifkind will be interviewing Matt at his solo exhibition to discuss the project and Matt’s practice in more depth.

The photo series is the culmination of 10 years’ worth of work exploring the changing face of Sundays in England. Matt will talk about the creation of this photo series; from why this cultural shift in Sunday behaviour first captured his interest, how he chose and photographed his subjects and how he brought together this large body of work into one, self-published book. Our two speakers will look at the wider cultural discussion the photobook highlights, namely, a move away from Sunday representing a day of more traditional and religious worship, rest and reflection and towards something new, and how the medium of photography has allowed this to be captured.
Places are limited, so if you’re interested in attending please RSVP to mail@mattwrittle.com by Wednesday 1st November.
