The Rambling Man

I want to begin by saying I hope you and yours are well and happy and looking forward to spending some quality with friends and loved ones in the coming weeks!

The Great Outdoors

Over the past few weeks I have been in discussions with Horatio’s Garden, a national charity creating and nurturing beautiful gardens in NHS spinal injury centres to support everyone affected by spinal injury. I am pleased to say they have commissioned me to be their Artist in Residence throughout July and August to work with patients and combine the healing power of nature and the outdoors with the therapeutic powers of photography.

Second Coming

Book of the Year! Hello all. Once again, as we near the festive break and the hope of a vaccine to return us all to some semblance of normality, I hope you, your friends, family and colleagues are safe and well. Despite the turmoil of 2020, professionally, I have managed to release two books: The […]

The River Meadow at the Pile of Stones

Back in March, when the world went into lockdown and uncertainty, like many I was left wondering what would happen to my work and, more specifically, my personal photography project The River Meadow at the Pile of Stones.

Portraits for Posterity Kickstarter Campaign

Lockdown has given me perspective and time to consider what is important in life and the work I have done during my career. In 2007, along with my neighbour Jacki Reason and her friend Jan Marsh, we launched Portraits for Posterity – Photographs of Holocaust Survivors in Great Britain.

Saturday is the new Sunday

Spring is just around the corner and the exhibition season is beginning to take hold. With this in mind, photographs from and copies of my book ‘Sunday: A Portrait of 21st Century England’  will be on display and available to buy from 11am this Saturday 7th March at The Elgiva theatre, Chesham, Buckinghamshire. The Elgiva theatre is […]

Sunday, Sunday

It’s been two years since I launched my debut book ‘Sunday: A Portrait of 21st Century England’and, encouragingly, is still commanding attention.

The Reckoning

Spring is here, almost, and I hope like me, everyone is feeling a renewed sense of zest with the lighter nights and birth of new life.

Nationwide Launch – ‘Healthy Lives Photography Commission’

Today sees the launch of a national photography campaign which aims to change the way we think about health.

Knives and celebratory vibes

Today sees the launch of my directorial debut with the film ‘Pagans’. Pagans [enemies] is a short film portraying the life of 19 year old Dianni Marriott, aka Dboy, and the world of youth violence surrounding him on the streets of Brixton, London.

Birth of a new season

Spring has finally sprung. The sun is out and the world seems a much brighter place after a long, long winter.

Tales of the unexpected

The longlist for The Orwell Prize for Exposing Social Evils was announced this month.

Reflect and Rewind: A personal review of 2015

Two of my great passions are photography and music. A major reason for this is that both act as emotional time machines – when you hear a song it can immediately transport you back to a time and a place long forgotten.

Telling stories

This is my favourite time of the year. I know that some people sink into melancholy as the summer slips away but I always feel invigorated.

Capturing Labour’s London glory, elsewhere a different story

The shock has finally subsided. Whatever your political allegiance, the election results on May 7th surprised everyone.

New Labour of Love

My first big assignment in London was to capture an ‘under siege’ Alastair Campbell near his home.

Two Marks to my name

Do you remember ‘Our Friends in the North’? Back in 1996, this superb series charted the lives and loves of four friends over forty years

Portraits for Posterity

Today is a day for reflection. Holocaust Memorial Day is a time to remember people who have died or whose lives have been changed beyond recognition during the Holocaust, Nazi Persecution and in subsequent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.

#fivedayblackandwhitechallenge

My friend Paul Miller has nominated me for this challenge and I was going to go out and shoot especially for it, which I thought was the idea, right?

The Book Stops Here

“You’ve got 5 minutes with Kevin” Was this short window going to be enough time with one of crickets most notorious sportsmen Kevin Peterson?

Still Moving: as Busy as a Bee

Well the summer is almost fading but what a beautiful summer it has been.

Haye-low

My regular work for the London Evening Standard features department always provides a good source of portraits and features.

Exploring Camera Techniques in Ethiopia

I have been travelling around the world with the charity EveryChild for the past eight years.

The Rise of Andrea

This was the second time I photographed Andrea Riseborough and like the first, she was as friendly and accommodating.
